Zirconium target
Zirconium alloy is a non-ferrous alloy composed of zirconium as the matrix and other elements added. The main alloying elements include tin, niobium, iron, etc. There are two types of zirconium alloys produced on an industrial scale: zirconium tin series and zirconium niobium series. The former has alloy grades Zr-2 and Zr-4, while the typical representative of the latter is Zr-2.5Nb, with a purity of up to 99.4%.

Zirconium alloy has good corrosion resistance, moderate mechanical properties, lower atomic thermal neutron absorption cross-section, and good compatibility with nuclear fuel in high-temperature and high-pressure water and steam at 300-400 ℃. It is commonly used as a core structural material for water-cooled nuclear reactors.

Zirconium, as an active metal, forms an oxide film at room temperature, which gives zirconium and its alloys excellent corrosion resistance.
